CSI: Miami Wine Labels by red5 CSI: Miami Wine Labels by red5
These are wine labels for background to go on...wine bottles in the background for a scene in a wine cellar on CSI: Miami. They may not be seen, but do help create a 'real world' within the context of the show. And a colorful but blurred background because of the shallow DOF we use on the show. ;)

even if blurred -- we would know exactly what wines exists in their world -- nicely done -- and great way to show off some interesting styles and 'names' -- later days

the strike is going. the battle of the rich vs the super-rich.

you can find daily or sometimes hourly updates @ Nikke Finke's Deadline Hollywood Daily if you're interested.

sorry about the long time getting back to you. last day of work Nov 29...another grand mal seizure on the 30th.

...but I just interviewed for a Bruce Willis film called 'surrogates' which films in Boston and also a Spielberg film 'The Trial of the Chicago 7' that films in Chicago.

There's still work as long as it's a feature that has a completed script.

I hope all is well. It's great to see snow again while I'm visiting family.

I hope you have a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year! ;)

oh, dear. take care of yourself, hun.

but it is good to hear that there is still some work around. I did finally see something the other day about the strike. that was the first in a while.

hope you had some fun in the snow! I slid into someone's front yard a couple of weeks ago. what a joy that was. and I finally got to drive my car yesterday after being stuck thanks to some ice on Monday and Tuesday. well, actually it got stuck Saturday night I just wasn't aware of it until Monday.

and I hope you and yours have a wonderful christmas and new years. stay safe, hun.

Are you worried at all about the hollywood writer strike? Won't that put a damper (albeit a very large one) on CSI production?

I like the different colours. Even out of focus they should create an almost mosaic backdrop to the scenes. I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before but being a graphic designer myself, graphic design in TV or film has interested me for a while. I think it really started when I saw some DVD extras for Pulp Fiction and there were galleries for the graphics such as little matchbooks. Most of it was background stuff that you may only subconsciously notice while watching if at all. The best films seem to have the best attention to detail even if you don't see all that hard work. As you say, it helps create a "real world" feel and for the actors too. In some ways I suppose it could be likened to method actors creating a backstory to help them get into the mood of the character. Alien is another film that I think benefits greatly from the attention to detail, especially in the graphics. Again you don't really see them so much on screen but I found out that all the little icons and insignia meant something and there was a rationale for literally everything they designed. This applied to other things in the film of course like costumes and the way the sets were built. Brilliant stuff.
