I don't know how to classify this other than designs and interfaces because it is graphic design for a set on CSI: Miami for an episode called 'To Kill A Predator'. This set consisted of a lot of graphics put onto one set from the channel 5 Logo to the Predators Among Us Logo, to the orange backdrop, to the photos in the television screens to the right in the background.
Some of you may recognize some of my deviations including One Headlight and several others on the television screens if you look hard enough.
I've gotten a few notes on what kind of artwork do I exactly do for the show and this one photo is full of my work for the show. It also shows that part of the design process is not only drawing it, but also choosing the materials that it is to be shown on and knowing how it will show up on set before it gets printed. Including prints on clear marine vinyl.
That sounds like an absolutely cool job...getting to see something you worked on...just all out there!

Impressive stuff. I like the way the light interacts with the set and the designs. The transparency is very successful. I can appreciate your uncertainty about the category. It's rather difficult to categorise something like this. I've also found that dA doesn't cater very well for the graphic designer in terms of gallery categories. Unlike say, photography which has lots and lots of specific categories.
graphic design for television and film is different than advertising or product design. as a graphic designer you're also asked to be a jack of all trades and master of none. so use everything you can from illustration, to font design, illustration and painting. have a varied portfolio from logo design, product design, illustration, stock photography, spec pieces and arrange your portfolio to gear towards whatever company you're trying to interview with.
...and use deviantART to your full advantage from getting critiques from other deviants to inspiration. Other than that, think outside the box and work your ass off.
Thanks brutha! Experimenting with a new printer that could print on clear plexiglass and vinyl was a real treat and expanded the scope of what I could accomplish for the show which was so fucking awesome.
